Get started on recovering!
We provide treatments for all ages, alleviating pain and dysfunction so our patients can obtain their optimal performance level faster and return to the activities they love. We want you to feel better, do better, and live a full life where daily tasks are easier. Our goal is to help avoid surgery or medications if possible and foster a healing environment when surgery is a must. Our methods here at New Heights are natural and align with treating our patients holistically, looking at the whole puzzle and not just a piece.
We can help YOU by getting to the root cause of the problem instead of just masking the presenting pain or dysfunction. We will work WITH YOU to better understand the whole picture, and restore function.
At NHPT we are dedicated to getting you better fast and in less visits if possible. We progress our patients along in the rehab process while still respecting limitations and boundaries.
Your initial appointment will include a thorough medical and social history – this helps us identify your specific needs. We will also complete a biomechanic assessment of your posture and movement, and complete hands on testing to identify any strengths or weaknesses that are contributing to your pain. Together we will identify your goals for therapy and make a plan, specifically tailored to you, to achieve those goals. This type of appointment requires an order for physical therapy from a physician, dentist, chiropractor, or nurse practitioner prior to your appointment – we are more than happy to help you with this as well.
Treatment sessions will build upon the evaluation, each session focusing on achieving your goals. Hands on treatment will be provided to ease muscle tension or encourage activation. Sessions may include exercise or therapeutic activities, vestibular work, or other manual techniques. You will also be provided with a home program and education at every session to ensure that you know the why/what/how/when of your progress.
Wellness visits are the ideal way to keep your progress going. Wellness visits are for individuals who no longer are having pain or symptoms, but would like to come in intermittently for a “tune up”. Just like you wouldn’t ignore your vehicle maintenance, your body deserves special care too! Wellness visits bring you back in with your therapist to discuss your achievements, tweak any home programming or anything else that might come up.
We all have busy lives and sometimes, taking time for yourself is difficult. Telehealth visits allow you to schedule 1:1 time with your therapist without having to travel, take off from work, schedule around kids, etc. Telehealth visits are a great way to check in and ensure that you are on the right track. Through online visits, we can discuss any concerns that you may have, run through your home program, complete postural assessments and anatomy education, and help you identify specific areas that need body work.
Dry needling is a therapeutic modality for tissue inflammation, sensitive nerve tissue, scar tissue formation, tissue adhesion, and deficiency of blood and lymphatic circulation. The insertion of the needle results in a physical and biochemical stimuli by stretching and breaking up the soft tissue.
Dry needling creates both local and systemic effects by restoring the tissue homeostasis and reduces the stress in the area. The restoration of tissue homeostasis allows for biological self-healing and self-repair.

My name is Merissa Denning and I attended the University of Missouri where I obtained my undergraduate degree in Health Science.
I later furthered my education with Southwest Baptist University where I earned a doctorate in Physical Therapy.
I was born and raised in Shannon County with a love for all things in the Ozarks. I always knew going into this profession that I wanted to return home and provide a service in an area that lacked. My husband Jordan and I moved home in 2020 and we began our journey. In 2021 after having my son Theodore, I decided it was time to fulfill my life long dream and from there New Heights Physical Therapy was born.
